Steamroller Blues 08. Stormy Monday 09. Little Wing 10. Fire and Rain Notes: For this gig, we had no bass player nor a drummer. Therefore, for some songs, a pre-recorded/arranged track was used on the Yamaha DGX-305 of the drum and bass parts (and sometimes a quiet keyboard part such as e-piano or grand piano). For other songs, a drum pattern from the Yamaha DGX-305 was used and K. Selby played bass and keys live (using the DGX-305 in Split mode). In a few cases, a drum pattern from the Yamaha DGX-305 was used and K. Selby played bass on the DGX-305 and keys using a Roland A-30 triggering various sound libraries hosted in Sonar 3.11 on the Notebook PC (see next paragraph). These permutations are noted for each song listed below. We are providing this information because we believe in fully informing our listeners of the specifics of our shows as well as possibly inspiring others to use relatively basic, inexpensive and available equipment to play live. Try it! It's fun! K. Selby uses a variety of keyboard sound libraries for the main keyboard parts he plays. These are hosted in Sonar 3.11 on the Notebook PC and triggered via a Roland A-30 controller keyboard. Sound libraries used are: Organized Trio with sustain pedal triggering the Leslie speed (excellent FREE/donationware Hammond B-3 library - see: http://www.soundfonts.it/) Mr. Ray 2.2 (excellent FREE/donationware Rhodes electric piano library - see: http://www.soundfonts.it/) Roland Super Quartet (primarily for Rhodes sound) Proprietary grand piano sound library that hasn't been released yet (still in beta) S.Wilburn, M. Metz, and K. Selby run each of their microphones through a separate Digitech Vocal 300 effects unit and then into the Roland VS-880EX on separate tracks. The Yamaha DGX-305 was routed into a Radio Shack analog-to-digital converter and then into the Notebook PC via digital light cable and the digital IN of the Audigy 2ZS Notebook PCMCIA sound card. All combined keyboard output (the DGX-305 combined with any sound libraries within Sonar) are routed through the Audigy 2ZS Notebook via the digital OUT and into the digital IN of the Roland VS-880EX and routed into tracks 7 and 8 on the VS-880EX. Track assignments on the VS-880EX 8-track digital workstation (this is used to mix live as well as record the gig): Track 1: K. Selby vocal from the Digitech Vocal 300 effects unit. Track 2: S. Wilburn vocal from the Digitech Vocal 300 effects unit. Track 3: M. Metz vocal from the Digitech Vocal 300 effects unit. Track 4: Sax, mic'd with a Shure 57 with an IMP on the end of the mic cable. Metz uses a Yamaha tenor saxophone mic'd with a Shure 57 and routed directly into the VS-880EX. He also uses various harmonicas. Individual Song Notes: Set 1: 01.
